Inspiration: After too many years as a digital consultant, I developed an aversion to endless acronyms. But this one earns its keep: BPMM stands for Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, where I’ve spent the past few years wandering the historic grounds, gardens, and mansion in search of inspiration. This piece is based on one of the countless majestic trees on its historical, protected property.

Process: The pine’s pattern reminded me of delicate crocheted lace doilies — a texture I tried, patiently and somewhat painstakingly, to echo in paint. I may still add embroidery, though this piece already demanded more patience than I typically possess.
