Redpoll on Embroidered Branch
Details: Acrylic on canvas | 4 × 4 inches
Inspiration: It’s one of my mom’s favorite species, and one of the first birds that kicked off this line of paintings!
Process: New to embroidering back then, a few sore thumbs later I have realized pine needles make the best botanical embroidering in this size, and that French knots make for excellent berries and pods.
Note: This OG is proudly displayed at my mom’s house, but other species are available at my shop.
Avian Side: That jaunty red forehead isn’t just for show—it gave the Redpoll its name, since “poll” is an old word for the top of the head.
