Inspiration: Television wasn’t a major staple of my childhood, but one show still stands out: Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, followed by Nat Geo and Animal Planet. I’ve long been fascinated by the lesser-known, less-huggable critters — a curiosity I used to document for years on my insect-focused project, Bugosphere.com. It was only a matter of time before glow worms wiggled their way into my work.

Process: This was a rare one when I actually envisioned what I wanted to create, which I usually avoid to mitigate disappointment. I sponged on the background, utilized fishing line for the glowworm thread, and had a Staples moment, that was easy. Then hours upon hours later of gluing tiny tiny beads to each thread I was finally done. I am still stepping on beads to this day.
