Birch Bark

Birch, Please

Inspiration: Birches have long been a favorite tree of mine, though this piece arrived by accident. I have the frugal (and admittedly distracting) habit of tossing leftover paint from other works onto a spare canvas rather than wasting it. This often means abandoning the original piece mid-stream to rescue drying paint. Like watching clouds form, something eventually begins to appear — and this particular texture begged for more dimension.

Process: After my new sewing habit emerged, I dusted it off and saw birch bark. Luckily the lines and holes were relatively straightforward because trying to pierce through thick paint is. not. fun… unlike the back which resembles constellations, or for you ghost hunters, an SLS camera rave.
