Details: Acrylic on canvas | 4 × 4 inches

Inspiration: This species was always one of my parent’s favorite birds, and once one visited out new house at the time, I could see why and was also smitten.

Process: One of my earlier pieces, an entertaining embroidery exercise, except for my poor sore thumbs. There’s a fine line between trying to imitate Mother Nature and giving up because it will never be as good as her version. Luckily, pine needles are easier to sew.

Note: This one was of course gift to my mom for her growing avian art collection but other species are available at my shop. It’s also high on my list of create again.
