Inspiration: You know that fleeting moment at sunset when everything catches a golden glow and even the most ordinary weeds are briefly transformed? I’d seen so many at that bewitching hour that I finally started photographing them, hoping to translate that quiet elevation later in the studio.
Process: I always mix my paints directly onto the canvas, a repetitive soothing process that hopefully avoid muddiness. I then turn to my vast array of embroidery thread to decide which tones would best echo that light. After stitching the three colors into place and propping the piece upright, something unexpected emerged: tiny punctures from the needle allowed light to pass through the canvas, creating a subtle stained-glass shimmer — almost like a miniature Light Bright effect.
